Dr. Jonathan Orr

Dr. Jonathan Orr is a seasoned academic advisor with over 20 years of experience in mental health counseling. He serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at Georgia State University, specializing in group dynamics, inclusive communities, and trauma-informed psychotherapy. Dr. Orr has trained and supervised over 400 mental health professionals and is an expert in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), a trauma intervention for PTSD and C-PTSD. He helped establish the NET Institute in Germany and co-founded NET.Collect, a global collective using NET for trauma survivors. He provides NET training and supervision worldwide and is a member of vivo international, an NGO addressing traumatic stress.
In addition to his academic and training roles, Dr. Orr maintains a private practice in Decatur, GA, as a licensed professional counselor and clinical supervisor. He consults on interpersonal dynamics and inclusive communities for various organizations. Dr. Orr has led the Association for Specialists in Group Work and served on the American Counseling Association’s Governing Council. His commitment to community and innovative training ensures the practical application of research and theory in real-world settings.
